SCC Academy

Officially launched last November, and funded through the Rigby Foundation Charitable Trust, the Academy continues to provide a range of digital skills and employability support and has already engaged over 500 people in Essential Digital Skills training.

The centre also hosts internal training sessions, higher level courses with Firebrand, and events dedicated to promoting digital skills and lifelong learning in partnership with The Prince's Trust and Young Adults Foundation Trust.

This spring we began offering apprenticeship programmes.

We’ve also created local and national partnerships with organisations including the National Careers Service and Jobcentre Plus. We also support Good Things Foundation to deliver national device and databank initiatives to provide eligible individuals with free access to laptops and SIM cards.

Aston University partnership

Our partnership will explore the future of digital technologies and digital skills, drive high impact research in digital technologies, and create innovative solutions that transform industries and improve business and lives.

As well as sharing our industry expertise in data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, we’ll deliver training programmes for students and professionals in digital skills and emerging technologies, with a focus on health and digital innovation across a range of priority industry sectors.

We’ll also explore a joint Digital Skills Academy to address the digital skills gap and improve digital inclusion.

All colleagues have two days’ paid leave to volunteer with our chosen charity partners or those close to their hearts. Colleagues donated nearly 2,000 hours during FY23 to support people in our local communities.

Our UK wide foodbank initiative has seen colleagues climb Kilimanjaro for the Trussell Trust, volunteer at local foodbanks, and make regular donations.

Working in partnership with our long-term vendor partner HP, our employees, clients and members of the local community planted 500 trees in New Forest National Park, in partnership with Forestry England.

The Prince's Trust

Supporting young people across the UK, The Prince’s Trust helps those facing the greatest adversity to build the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn.

In partnership with the Rigby Foundation, we support a range of their initiatives through donations, fundraising and volunteering, including facilitating CV workshops as part of the charity’s Team programme.

United by 2022

United By 2022 is the legacy charity of the Commonwealth Games and is supported through the Rigby Foundation.

It provides a dedicated community fund to support community led projects, events or initiatives helping disadvantaged and socially excluded people.

We continue to fund two wishes a month to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families as part of the Rigby Foundation's support.

Each wish provided means a child with a life-threatening illness receives equipment, an experience, or gifts that can help them with their emotional wellbeing during extremely challenging times. 

CASBA works to ensure that citizens can speak up for themselves, express their views, make choices, secure their rights and entitlements, and be valued and recognised.

Our partnership involves fundraising, volunteering, training, and awareness-raising, as we work collaboratively to support CASBA’s vital work and help make SCC an even more inclusive and accessible employer in the West Midlands and beyond.

Founded by the Rigby family, it operates on the principle that success in business goes together with putting back into society and communities. SCC works in partnership with the foundation to support charities through donations, fundraising, and volunteering to support their important work.

The Foundation is a registered charity operating independently of SCC and invests in causes relating to lifelong learning, health, and education.
