Cyber Services
Protect the organisation, employees and students with enhanced security services
Education providers face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, ranging from ransomware attacks that disrupt operations and compromise student data to phishing scams that exploit vulnerable users. The sector's reliance on digital platforms for learning and administration, coupled with the storage of sensitive personal information, makes it a prime target for cybercriminals.
Data breaches pose significant threats to education institutions, including substantial financial losses, reputational damage and disruption to educational services. The exposure of sensitive student, departmental and research information can also lead to identity theft and loss of competitive advantage. To mitigate these risks, education institutions must implement robust cybersecurity measures such as multi-factor authentication, encryption and continuous monitoring. Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments are essential, along with a comprehensive incident response plan to effectively manage breaches.
SCC’s Retained Incident Response (IR) service is available 24/7/365, delivered by a dedicated team accredited by NCSC. Our IR service provides a full spectrum of legal, compliance and communication services. Establishing a retainer for IR ensures that we can promptly mobilise our experienced incident response team, who are already familiar with your systems, networks and operations.
To comply with evolving regulations and bolster defences against cyberattacks, education institutions should adopt a holistic approach to cybersecurity that includes comprehensive solutions for protection.
Our Managed Extended Detection and Response service (MXDR) provides round-the-clock protection across your entire network. This service ensures faster resolution times, lower security costs and smarter proactive prevention tactics, mitigating risks across your entire operation and ensuring your security is well-managed.
SCC's Managed SOC Services include our Aegis platform, which leverages advanced automation and AI to enrich, triage and respond to potential threats, reducing false positives and allowing our analysts to accelerate investigations.
Disruptions in the supply chain, whether due to natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, or pandemics (as seen with COVID-19), can significantly impact education operations— affecting everything from essential research materials and technology to everyday supplies. Delays and shortages can hinder research projects, disrupt classroom activities and increase operational costs.
Institutions that adopt modern technologies not only foster innovation but also gain real-time insights into their supply chain. This allows them to identify bottlenecks, anticipate demand fluctuations and make data-driven decisions to ensure continuity of supply. With enhanced collaboration and visibility, institutions can improve overall supply chain efficiency and responsiveness, reducing costs and increasing student satisfaction.
Successful education institutions will invest in digital supply chain capabilities that can provide better insights into the functions of each stakeholder along the chain and enable each participant to make better decisions about resourcing and student and teacher demand.
SCC’s advanced cyber capabilities are the key to uncovering the insights you need into your supply chain. Our highly trained experts will work with you to understand what your institution needs and how we can help you unlock value from these solutions.

Originally the Borough Polytechnic Institute, London South Bank University (LSBU) has approximately 20,000 students, 2,500 employees and tens of thousands of endpoints in the UK and internationally. LSBU sought a partner to modernise their technology estate so they can constantly deliver and meet their students’ demands and expectations.
With its complex and vast IT multi-site estate, LSBU required a specialist partner to help them address their constant and growing security threats. Their 365, all day everyday model demanded round-the-clock security from the proposed solution. LSBU’s tens of thousands of endpoints are used by numerous overseas students. LSBU needed to improve their security stack and migrate their Sophos capabilities from on-premise to Sophos Central. SCC has partnered with LSBU for many years. LSBU requested SCC to provide a 24 hour, 365 days a year Sophos-based service. LSBU’s on-premise solution was fast becoming end-of-life. LSBU’s security stack challenges were becoming increasingly prevalent. When examining their need to review their security stack and migrate to Sophos Central, SCC identified the benefit from LSBU implementing Sophos Intercept X and its associated managed threat response service. The Intercept X capability with its advanced malware capabilities presented the perfect solution for LSBU to reduce their cyber risk. SCC implemented Sophos Intercept X, which managed their endpoints, and established the Sophos Central Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. Unlike other MDR services which simply notify customers of suspicious events, Sophos MDR provides an elite team of threat hunters and response experts to take targeted actions to neutralise even the most sophisticated threats. That means that LSBU now have round-the-clock surveillance, support and expertise. The proactive service and the security expertise ensures that LSBU are always safe, secure and compliant.LSBU are further supported by their SCC account management team. The team understands the vast security landscape, the various available technologies and the threat landscape. This information helps SCC feed into LSBU’s security pipeline and roadmap to pinpoint technologies that ultimately will help them secure and achieve their goals.Since implementing the Sophos MDR, LSBU, as well as massively improving security, have freed up significant underlying operational manhours that have allowed their teams to focus on real-time student initiatives that have increased their students’ satisfaction.
