This year, we have made significant changes in our business. We have refreshed our corporate strategy, purpose, ambition, and values. Our new values reflect our business today, along with supporting the direction of travel for our future and the way we will interact with our stakeholders. One of our new values is responsibility which is an integral element to how we develop and implement our environmental, social and governance (ESG) structure. As part of this approach, we launched our ESG committee. Chaired by myself, it involves members of our Executive Team and subject matters experts from across the business. Our committee meets regularly to discuss and agree how we can continue to develop and enhance our ESG performance. During the next twelve months, we will also be focusing our ESG activities on three principal areas: reducing our environmental impact, investing, and supporting our communities, and continually improving our professional behaviours. Over the last year, Covid-19 impacted many aspects of our lives. With the slowing down of the pandemic, we have fully resumed our ESG activities and implemented a range of new initiatives.
One of these initiatives focuses on our people, who are our biggest asset. Our vision is to be the most employee centric IT systems integrator in the UK. To help us achieve this, we have continued investing in our people activities and conducted our first people survey so we could gain direct feedback on a range of topics. We also developed and introduced a range of diversity and inclusion working groups which involve people from across the business and demonstrates how we embrace our family values. During the year, we began a new charity partnership with United by 2022 who are the official legacy charity of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The charity has invited me onto their Trustee Board and I’ve seen first-hand how they are supporting Birmingham’s young people and communities and how this support will continue once the games have finished. This year, we also became part of the United Nations Global Compact and official supporters of the compact’s ten principles. This declaration builds on our existing commitment of reducing our direct emissions and reaching our net zero target by 2050 as part of the United Nations Race to Zero Campaign. I’m pleased with the progress we have made during the year. We continue to develop and evolve our ESG strategy and making strong commitments to ensure we are being a responsible business.
